New Moon (November 2016)

Merry Meet!

The New Moon has come back around again and it amazes me how quickly time has come; and gone. I do hope that December is better because I just want this month to be over. Too many insane people were running the nut house for my peace of mind. I will be honoring the Morrigan and thanking her for protecting me during this month. I do hope that you all have a good New Moon and may Morrigan bless you.

The Celtic Tree Month of Elder Begins

Merry Meet!

The Celtic Tree month of Elder has begun. It goes from the 25 of this month until the 23 of December, covering Yule. Here's some info about this Tree month. I got this from about.com.

The winter solstice has passed, and the Elder moon is a time of endings. Although the Elder can be damaged easily, it recovers quickly and springs back to life, corresponding to the approaching New Year. Called Ruish by the Celts (pronounced roo-esh), the month of Elder is a good time for workings related to creativity and renewal. It is a time of beginnings and endings, births and deaths, and rejuvenation.
Elder is also said to protect against demons and other negative entities. Use in magic connected to Faeries and other nature spirits.

What is Celtic Wicca?

Merry Meet!

So I know that I've mentioned what a Celtic Recon is now it's time to talk about what is Celtic Wicca? Celtic Wicca is a branch of Wicca that deals with Celtic gods and goddess, heroes, and mythology. It's a new tradition of Wicca and is based on this romanticized vision of the Celts. Celtic Wicca is a branch of Celtic Neopaganism and has critics from writers like Ronald Hutton and many others.

However, in the general Wiccan community, Celtic Wiccans are welcome just as long as they don't make up lies about their tradition. As a Celtic Wiccan, I understand this and do not make things up about where I'm drawing my practice from. Unlike other forms of Wicca the Celtic gods and goddess are primarily honored and worshiped. The only other tradition of Wicca that excludes deities that weren't honored by the ancients is Greek Wicca.

The Wiccan Rede and Three Fold Law are included in Celtic Wicca, as it's a belief in general Wicca. I hope that this has helped.

My Celtic Altar

Merry Meet!

I promised everyone that I would show my Celtic Altar. As a general rule, for myself, I don't put the pentacle or my tools out. The reason for this is that I don't want it polluted by negative energy in the form of my mother. She's against Wicca and would get angry if she saw it. I also don't keep my tools out because I don't believe that my tools should be for show. Keeping your tools covered is a common practice in traditional forms of witchcraft.

Doing a Video Series

Merry Meet!

I've started working on a video series based on a book that I've read about the Morrigan. I will be transferring those video's here so that others can see it. I think that doing this will be really great for my development as someone that's drawn to the Morrigan. So watch out for those in the next couple of weeks.

Changed my Altar

Merry Meet!

I had a strange set-up that really didn't go well with me. So I removed everything and went back to something nice and simple. And while I love huge altars, with plenty of stuff, that's just not me. So I'm keeping things simple and Celtic. I will post a photo of the altar this Saturday.

Full Moon

The moon, at least from what I see, played an important role in the lives of the Celts. The Full Moon is tonight and I will be honoring the goddess, Bridget. I really love the Full Moon and I love being able to honor this wonderful goddess. I'm not going to be doing anything important, just doing a small ritual and maybe an oracle reading. I hope that you all have a good Full Moon.

I Don't Need Experts to Tell Me What I Am

Merry Meet!

When I discovered myself drawn to Celtic Wicca and Celtic Witchcraft I decided to check it out. I found that there are plenty of 'experts' that will tell you that Celtic Wicca is this and Celtic Wicca is based on some strange notion of what the Celts actually were. Since we don't really know much about their rituals and what they did then I don't need experts to tell me that my path is valid or not. There are plenty of people out there that practice this and that's fine with me.

I'm a Celtic Wiccan that practices witchcraft. Don't like it, then leave me the heck alone.

The Election is Finally Over

I wanted to post this yesterday but I was just tired and wanted a break from blogging. The election is finally over and Trump has won. I know that many didn't see this happening, neither did I, but it happened. The problem is that people are out protesting the results, furious that Clinton didn't win. The thing is that the people don't actually vote for the President. We don't live in a direct Democracy, meaning that the vote of the people would actually elect the President.

The Electoral College is the one that actually does it. In mid-December, they will meet in their respected State Capitals and cast their vote. Those are the people that actually elect the President, not us. If they got rid of the college then the vote of the people would actually elect the President. The whole rioting and mobs tell me that the American people don't actually understand anything about how the President gets into the White House.

They are ignorant of the process that they take part in, but I'm not. I know how the process works and I would love the college to be removed. To know that my vote actually elects the President would be great. Still, one can only wish for that. Let's hope that nothing happens to Trump and that he turns out to be a good President. We need a good one.

What is Celtic Reconstructionism?

So I'm not going to really turn this into a long blog but I just want to give someone a simple answer to that question. What is Celtic Reconstructionism and what is a Celtic Recon? Celtic Reconstructionism is a branch in the recon community. This is the attempt to reconstruction the religion of the ancient Celts, like others, are doing with other cultures. This doesn't mean that I exclude interacting with other recons and smile at their efforts, but it's a branch of neo-paganism and it's considered the minority within the minority.

A Celtic recon is someone that practices Celtic reconstructionism. Unlike other cultures, like the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, the Celts wrote nothing down. We don't know anything about what their rituals looked like except that they gathered in groves and cut down mistletoe. Their culture was oral because it was believed that if you wrote it down it lost it's power. So when I practice I add my own bit to it so that there's meat in my practice.

I do things like Oracle decks, Tarot cards, and even looking for information by fire. I burn offerings, give what I made, and so forth. We need to understand that we are practicing a faith based on what we think that they did. And that makes it okay, since, as solo Celts, we are forging our own path and our own relationship with the divine.

Why I'm a Celtic Recon

When I started down this path, as a pagan, around twelve I had no clue that I would be involved in Celtic Reconstructionism. I thought that I would be a Wiccan and honor the gods as I saw fit. However, things have changed. Despite the fact that tribe and groups are important I choose to honor the gods solo. If Celtic Recons don't like it then that's their problems. This is something that I don't believe could work in a modern context.

Not that I'm going to attack anyone that does that, that's their own right. The Morrigan and Dagda have come into my heart and has directed me down this path. Let's hope that it lasts for many years.

Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my blog and I hope that what I'm going to post will prove to be useful and that you can take in as your own. My name is Celtic Enchantress Witch, I'm a Celtic Recon that adds things to her practice because we don't really know what the Celts believed and how they practiced. This blog is about Celtic Reconstructionism as how I practice it and not based on any group and what they do.

I live here in the south and try and connect with the land, the sky, and the sea. Though the sea part will be more accessible next year. I don't know everything about my path, about my religion, and that's fine. Learning is the most important aspect and I believe that having fun and enjoying what your doing is also important. I hope that you like it here and that I give you some knowledge.
